Court Hearing: INEC, APC Primary Committee Chairman Defend, Daramola’s Victory Against NWC Decision in Okitipupa/Irele Reps Primary.
Abuja - 3rd September, 2026
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Chairman of the House of Representatives Primary Election Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ondo State, Hon. Iboroma Dabibi Harry,
have testified to the victory of Dr. Olumuyiwa Daramola in the primary election for the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency.
The parties gave the submission during proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, in a suit challenging the outcome of the APC primary election and the alleged subsequent substitution of the candidate’s name.
Meanwhile, INEC, in its testimony, confirmed that it monitored the primary election whose result reflected Dr. Olumuyiwa Daramola as the winner of the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency primary, while also presenting the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the result before the court.
In his submission, Hon. Iboroma Dabibi Harry, who chaired the APC Primary Election Committee for Ondo State, swore to an affidavit before the court, affirming that he announced the results which produced Dr. Daramola as winner in the primary after lawful votes were duly collated.
The Collation Officer for the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency primary, Hon. Wale Ogunmade, in the same vein, affirmed under oath that Dr. Daramola polled 6,547 votes, to defeat his closest challenger, the incumbent, who scored 827 votes.
The testimonies of INEC, the APC Primary Election Committee Chairman and the Collation Officer were consequently placed before the court as part of the evidence supporting the result declared at the primary election.
Video evidence showing the declaration of the results was also played before the court. The court, having heard the arguments of the parties and considered the evidence placed before it, adjourned the matter for judgment and ruling on 19th October, 2026.
