Governor Makinde Expresses Confidence in APM Ahead of 2027 Elections

According to a report by Punch on Monday, September 21, 2026, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has expressed confidence in the growing political strength of the Allied People’s Movement as the state prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Makinde made the remarks on Monday at a political event held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex in Ibadan and organised by the Boye Nation/JAF Movement.

The gathering was convened to receive former members of the All Progressives Congress into the APM, with the new entrants led by Ajiboye Sangogade, popularly known as Boye Nation.

Sangogade is a personal assistant and supporter of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu.

The defectors reportedly came from several local government areas across Oyo State.

Speaking at the event, Makinde challenged the APC governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, to focus his campaign on securing the confidence of voters rather than making criticisms directed at the state administration.

The governor also voiced his support for the APM governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, while highlighting Adekanmbi’s background as an accountant.

Makinde also compared Adekanmbi’s professional experience with Alli’s background in law during his remarks on the forthcoming contest.
