Some of Us Thought That Upon Destruction of the PDP, Wike Would Pack His Load and Enter APC–Iguodala
A candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Ovia Federal Constituency, Aiguobarueghian Iguodala, has criticised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over his involvement in the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking during an interview on SilverBird TV, Iguodala, a former member of the PDP, said he left the party's Turaki faction on May 4 this year because of what he described as Wike's actions that led to its destruction.
He explained that he and some other members had expected Wike to leave the PDP and join the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the party's troubles, considering his alleged relationship with the ruling party. However, he expressed disappointment that Wike remained in the PDP.
Iguodala also said APC governors had made it clear that they were not interested in forming any coalition with Wike, adding that the minister's coalition plans appeared to be limited to Rivers State.
He further described Wike's approach to the proposed coalition as undemocratic, arguing that it did not take the interests of the people into consideration.
The NDC candidate's comments come amid disagreements between Wike and some APC governors over political alliances and the minister's influence in Tinubu's reelection bid.
In his words, "I was of the PDP, the Turaki faction until May 4th this year; I had to leave that faction because he destroyed it. And some of us thought that upon the destruction of the PDP, he would just pack his load and enter the APC, his employers and the people for whom he has been working. But unfortunately, he stayed put in the PDP."
