Nigerian Businesses Deserve Credit For What They Have Achieved, But Growth Must Improve Lives–Atiku

According to a report by The Cable on Thursday, October 1, 2026, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has said that the past three years under President Bola Tinubu have plunged Nigeria into what he described as the most severe cost of living crisis in the country’s history.

Atiku, who is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the statement on Thursday while delivering his state of the nation address at the ADC headquarters in Abuja.

The former vice-president used the address to assess the state of the country and express his concerns over the economic conditions facing Nigerians under the current administration.

Atiku criticised the economic policies of the Tinubu administration, accusing the government of worsening the hardship being experienced across the country.

According to him, the economic situation has placed significant pressure on ordinary Nigerians, with families facing increasing costs in meeting their daily needs.

He argued that the government's economic policies had not provided sufficient relief to citizens despite the administration's claims about developments in the economy.

The ADC presidential candidate said the difficulties experienced by Nigerians should be considered when assessing the impact of the government's policies.

The former vice-president particularly criticised the removal of the petrol subsidy, saying the policy had contributed to higher transportation and food costs across the country.
