According to a report by The Sun News, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, Hon Godfrey Gaiya, Southern Kaduna senatorial district candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has dismissed the notion that state governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC) umbrella will facilitate the victory of President Bola Tinubu in next year’s presidential election, arguing that many of them will not even vote for the president.
Speaking to Sunday Sun, the former Chairman, House of Representatives Com
mittee on Sports in the 6th and 7th Assemblies, equally confirmed that there is a high-level conspiracy in northern Nigeria to vote against President Tinubu for making life very unbearable for the people of the regions.
Gaiya said his confidence that Tinubu could face serious opposition in the 2027 presidential election is based on several factors.
According to him, there are indications that some people in power may be planning to manipulate the electoral process in their favour.
He alleged that the process surrounding the appointment of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as well as what he described as attempts to restrict political parties from participating fully in the election, showed that there were plans to influence the outcome.
