President Trump says he regrets nominating all 3 judges he appointed to Supreme Court in first term

According to a report by the Times of Israel on Thursday October 1, 2026, US President Donald Trump says he regrets nominating all three Supreme Court justices he appointed during his first term, accusing them of repeatedly ruling against him after taking their seats on the nation’s highest court.

Trump made the comments in an interview with Time magazine conducted on Monday. The three justices in question are Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett, all conservatives whose appointments helped establish the court’s current 6-3 conservative majority.

Asked whether he regretted choosing the three judges, Trump answered, “Yeah. Yeah,” according to a transcript of the interview.

He then complained that the justices had opposed him too frequently despite having received lifetime appointments from his administration.

Trump has previously expressed frustration with the three justices, particularly after a series of Supreme Court decisions that went against his administration. Even so, he told the interviewer that while he values loyalty, he does not expect the justices to simply support him.

“I do like loyalty, yeah,” Trump said when asked about the issue, before adding that what he ultimately wanted from the justices was good decisions.

His latest remarks came after the Supreme Court rejected a request involving a Postal Service rule that would have restricted the use of mail-in ballots in the November midterm elections.

Trump had reacted angrily to that decision on his Truth Social platform, arguing that the justices he selected had changed significantly since the interviews that preceded their appointments.
